What sort of message is this? →
Earlier this month Pick n Pay spent a bucket-load of money on a new corporate identity. Groogle was perplexed as to why the R110 million didn’t include a re-branding of the Pick n Pay website which did seem strange at the time.
I’m pleased to say that Pick n Pay finally got their act together and their new website, with new Flickr-clone logo, has been launched.
Only one small problem - seems...
In Rainbows →
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, in mine, religion interferes with good governance and Radiohead are the greatest band of all time. Here is the single ‘All I need’ from their seventh studio album ‘In Rainbows’. Mature, informed and musically magnificent, but that’s just my opinion, you decide:

Google Maps Mobile Adds GPS-Like "My Location"... →
We’d all love a little GPS on our phone, but generally a device with GPS built in (plus the price of service) costs more than many of us are willing to shell out. Luckily the latest (beta) version of Google Maps Mobile has added a new feature called My Location, which uses data from cellphone towers to provide an approximation of your location on a Google Map—meaning GPS-like results from...

Jeremy Clarkson is a funny, funny man →
He really, really is. And so, so sage. The man’s a fucking legend. And he’s as good as royalty in England. Shit, he’d probably be the next Prime Minister if he bothered to run. I’d vote for him.
Anyways. Here are some pearls of wisdom coughed up over the years by the Top Gear swami. Outstanding, Mr Clarkson. Outstanding.

Ego Surfing: How to Perform That Daily Ritual of... →
Ego-surfing, or searching for occurrences of your own name or your company’s name on Google and other web search engines, is a common activity among most web users.
And ego-surfing (or self-googling) is not always about the ego - it helps you track conversations on the Internet that are related to you or your company and you could gather some good feedback which would otherwise go unnoticed.

Here’s a video case-study of the Peugeot 107 campaign by Saatchi & Saatchi AtPlay, entitled “Break Free“. I often use it in presentations, and have had so many requests to burn it on discs that I eventually just asked Allan Kent, Group Creative Director of AtPlay, if I could post it online. Thanks Allan:

If you are community manager/owner, what kind of stats would you like to get from your community to measure growth and activity?
I’ve tried doing some research, but it’s difficult to find specifics. Dave McClure has written a pretty cool summary on some aspects, saying that User engagement is a depth, not a Breadth, metric. What does he mean by that?

Developing Facebook applications is a trying and frustrating experience for many developers, myself included. My most recent frustration was getting an item to publish to the user’s mini-feed/friend’s newsfeed using Facebook.NET.
Publishing frustrations aren’t isolated to just Facebook.NET; they extend to a lot of Facebook.NET developers out there. Here’s what I’ve learned about how to publish...
